We believe that a happy pig is a delicious pig. We value farms that let their pigs roam, are great stewards of the land and support real farming families. All our farms pasture their pigs, and use either non-GMO or organic feed. Meet some of our awesome farmers:
One of the many unique qualities of Roam Sticks is that it is actually owned and run by a farming family, not a multi-national corporation. Roam Sticks founders John and Holly Arbuckle operate Singing Prairie Farm. Named after the singing creatures in the surrounding prairie, Singing Prairie Farm is a small, family farm nestled in rural Northeast Missouri that is devoted to ecological agriculture. John is a ninth generation American farmer and nurtures a long-term sustainable farming vision. In practicing ecological agriculture, the Arbuckles strive for farming in harmony with nature, using cultivation techniques and breeding programs that do not rely on chemical fertilizers, pesticides,or artificial genetic modifications.
Jude Becker is the founder of Becker Lane Organics. One of Becker Lane Organics founding principles is the practice of good animal welfare. It therefore follows that pigs raised for organic meat must have access to the outside world and be able to engage in their instinctive behaviors such as rooting, wallowing, foraging, and nesting. Their farm’s vision is to create an entity which produces and sustains its needs from within, and therefore we take a “from the ground up” approach that starts with the soil. They grow a significant portion of the organic grain needed to feed the pigs on their six generation family land near Dyersville, Iowa. The use of heritage breeds is a hallmark necessary to achieve truly flavorful pork and the farm uses Berkshire animals to aid in this process. They believe their products are good for nature, good for animal welfare, good for the economy, and ultimately safer for your family to eat while tasting better.
Clear Creek Organic Farm is run by Robert and Kristine Bernt and has been in the Bernt family for over 125 years. They follow organic standards and produce pastured pigs that are supplemented with whey from their own grass fed dairy herd. They believe that the health of the soil affects the health of everything and everyone that eats from it. Their farm motto is “Producing healthy foods for healthy families.”Their 14 beautiful children assist in the farm.
“I want to see more factory farms because it is better for the environment, good for the pig and makes the meat taste better!” (Said, no one ever.)
